Nutritional counseling treatments

Nutritional counseling plays an important role in rehabilitation. The aim of nutrition therapy is to positively influence the underlying disease and to prevent or delay its progression. It also aims to help alleviate discomfort or reduce the need for medication. Nutrition therapy helps to change eating habits and to maintain the new diet.

Medically indicated services:

Metabolic disorders: In cases of metabolic disorders such as diabetes mellitus, gout, hyperlipidemia (high blood lipid levels) or symptoms of metabolic syndrome, targeted dietary adjustments are essential.

Obesity: Nutrition plays a crucial role in addressing the associated health risks of obesity.

Cardiovascular diseases: Many cardiovascular diseases are directly or indirectly related to diet. High blood lipid and blood sugar levels, as well as hypertension, can result from obesity and underlying poor nutrition.

Digestive system disorders: Conditions affecting the digestive system can significantly impact the quality of life. Often, individual dietary adjustments can positively influence well-being.

Kidney diseases: Proper nutrition is especially important for those with impaired kidney function, as the renal diet can counteract disease progression.

Malnutrition and poor diet: Malnutrition results in a lack of energy and essential nutrients such as protein and vital vitamins. The symptoms and consequences of malnutrition are diverse and serious.

Food allergies or allergic reactions to food components: Managing nutrition with food allergies or intolerances can be challenging. Our nutritional counselors inform, advise and support you in achieving a balanced diet despite necessary restrictions.

Eating disorders: Eating disorders encompass conditions like anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and other problematic behaviors. Eating disorders can have severe physical, psychological and social consequences, potentially leading to disability and death.

Neurological disorders: Many patients with neurological conditions, such as stroke or Parkinson’s disease, struggle to maintain proper nutrition. This can lead to weight loss, muscle depletion and further limitations in mobility and independence. Affected patients often require specialized nutritional therapy. Due to the profound effects of certain neurological diseases, nutritional needs may sometimes only be met through artificial nutrition.
